31. οἱ μαθηταί. Lk. says that it was Peter, and the impulsive remark is characteristic of him; cf. Mar 1:36, Mar 8:32. The difference between unsympathetic pressing and sympathetic grasping in spiritual contact with Christ has been often pointed out. Caro premit, fides tangit (Aug.).
