This Chapter Verse Commentaries:
23. ἕως ἡμίσους τ. βασ. μ. Cf. Ahasuerus and Esther (Est 5:2-3), a story which may have influenced this narrative. But, in his cups, Antipas would not stop to consider whether he could give away his dominions. Cf. 1Ki 13:8. The contracted gen. is late Greek.
