This Chapter Verse Commentaries:
42. ἄλλους ἔσωσεν κ.τ.λ. These words in the original would recall the ‘hosannas’ in the Temple which had enraged the chief priests; see note, ch. Mat 21:9. They also connect themselves with the name of Jesus (σωτήρ).

βασιλεὺς Ἰσραήλ. Comp. ὁ βασιλεὺς τῶν Ἰουδ. supra Mat 27:37, and see Joh 1:49; Joh 12:13.
