9. μὴ δόξητε λÎγειν, ‘do not presume to say.’ For this use of δοκεῖν cp. Php 3:4, εἴ τις δοκεῖ ἄλλος πεποιθÎναι á¼Î½ σαÏκί, á¼Î³á½¼ μᾶλλον.
πατÎÏα ἔχομεν τὸν ἈβÏαάμ. The Jewish doctors taught that no one who was circumcised should enter Gehenna.
á¼Îº τῶν λίθων. Stones are regarded as the most insensate, the furthest removed from life of created things. May there not be a play on the words banim (children) abanim (stones)?
