10. Ἀπελλῆν. A name borne by Jews; cf. Hor. Sat. I v. 100, see Lft.

τὸν δόκιμον ἐν Χρ. marks some special difficulty faithfully overcome; cf. 1Co 11:19; 2Co 10:18; 2Ti 2:15; Jam 1:12.

τοὺς ἐκ τῶν Ἀριστοβούλου prob. = Aristobulus, brother of Herod Agrippa I., who lived a long time in Rome and was a friend of the Emperor Claudius, οἱ ἐκ τ. = some of his slaves, probably now connected with the imperial household, though treated as a separate group; A. being either dead or resident in Palestine.
