This Chapter Verse Commentaries:

NASB (UPDATED) TEXT: Rev_22:7

7"And behold, I am coming quickly. Blessed is he who heeds the words of the prophecy of this book."

Rev_22:7 "I am coming quickly" Apparently the angel is quoting Jesus (cf. Rev_22:12-15). This is stated specifically by Jesus in Rev_22:16. Exactly who speaks in Rev_22:17 and Rev_22:18-19 is uncertain, but Jesus speaks again in Rev_22:20 and John in Rev_22:21. See Special Topic: Soon Return at Rev_1:3.

"Blessed is he who" This is another of the seven blessings for believers found throughout the book (cf. Rev_1:3; Rev_14:13; Rev_16:15; Rev_19:9; Rev_20:6; Rev_22:7; Rev_22:14).

"prophecy" This book is a prophecy and must be interpreted in the light of prophetic literature (cf. Rev_22:9-10; Rev_22:18-19; Rev_1:3; Rev_10:11). This book is not historical narrative! Prophecy always has a conditional element. New Testament eschatological passages reflect OT prophetic insight that viewed the end-time through contemporary occurrences and faith responses. Many scholars believe the apocalyptic genre grew out of Jewish propheticism. See hyperlink at Rev_1:3.
