CONTEXTUAL INSIGHTS TO Tit_2:1-10

A. Paul admonishes different groups of people

1. older men (Tit_2:1-2)

2. older women. Tit_2:3 (cf. 1Ti_2:9-15)

3. younger women (Tit_2:4-5)

4. younger men (Tit_2:6)

5. Titus, Tit_2:7-8; Tit_2:15 (cf. 1Ti_4:12-13)

6. slaves (Tit_2:9-10)



B. In Titus 2 the qualifications for church leaders found in Tit_1:5-9 and 1 Timothy 3 are extended to believers of both sexes and of all ages.



C. The purpose for Christians living godly lives is clearly expressed in Tit_2:11-14, which is one sentence in Greek.



D. Titus 2 is a real contrast to the lifestyles of the false teachers found in Tit_1:10-16.
