Ver. 11. The reference to the gospel, introduced so casually at the close of the preceding verse, is taken by the apostle as a link to introduce what follows respecting his office, and what it called him to suffer, as well as to do, for the sake of Christ: for which I was appointed a herald and apostle, and teacher of the Gentiles. The same description exactly that was given of his office in the first epistle, 1Ti_2:7. What follows, however, is different, having respect to the sufferings associated with the calling, as formerly it stood connected with his authority to prescribe and rule in church affairs.
