Ver. 20. Erastus abode at Corinth, but Trophimus I left behind at Miletus sick. It was shown in the Introduction that these notices could not refer to anything recorded in the history of the Acts, and that they must be understood of later, and indeed quite recent events. On his last visit to Asia Minor and Jerusalem, as related in the Acts, Trophimus, so far from having been left at Miletus sick, went with Paul to Jerusalem, and his appearance there with the apostle gave occasion to the disturbance and accusation that were raised by the Jews (Act_20:4, Act_21:29).
