ē̇-liz´a-beth (ἘλισαÌβετ, ElisaÌbet, Westcott and Hort ἘλεισαÌβετ, EleisaÌbet, from Heb 'ĕlı̄shebha‛ (Elisheba), “God is (my) oath,†i.e. a worshipper of God): Wife of Zacharias the priest and mother of John the Baptist ().
