a-lı̄´a (עליה, ‛alyāh): One of the dukes, or heads of thousands of Edom (). In the name is Alvah (עלוה, ‛alwāh), the only difference being the change of the weaker ו, v, of Gen to the somewhat stronger, י, y, of the later Chronicles, a change which is not infrequent in Hebrew. He is not to be confused, as in HDB, with the Alian of the same chapter.
