am´non (אמנון, 'amnōn, “faithful”; compare אמּינון, 'ămı̄nōn, , which is probably a diminutive. Wellhausen (IJG, II, 24, note 2) resolves אמּינון into אמּי 'immı̄, and נוּן, nūn, “my mother is the serpent”; compare NUN):
