mar´ish (גבא, gebhe'; ἔλος, hélos): An old form of “marsh,” found in the King James Version, the English Revised Version (the American Standard Revised Version “marsh”). Some (not all) editions of the King James Version Apocrypha have retained this same spelling in 1 Macc 9:42, 45 (the Revised Version (British and American) “marsh”).
