It appears as “Naaran†in (Codex Vaticanus ÎααÏναÌν, NaarnaÌn; Codex Alexandrinus ÎααÏαÌν, NaaraÌn). Eusebius, Onomasticon (s.v. “Noorathâ€) places it 5 Roman miles from Jericho. The name has not been recovered, and no identification is certain. The position would agree with that of el- ‛Aujeh, about 5 miles Northeast of Jericho.
