kwit: Same derivation as “quiet,” so that “to be quit” (, ; the King James Version) is “to be relieved of responsibility,” נקה, nāḳāh, נקי, nāḳı̄, “guiltless” (so the Revised Version (British and American) ). Hence, “to quit one's self” means “to be freed by discharging a duty.” The phrase in English Versions of the Bible, however, is a gloss for in it is used for היה, hāyāh, “to be,” while in ἀνδρίζομαι, andrı́zomai, means “to behave like a man.”
