(1) The son of Barachiah, who, Jesus says, was slain between the temple and the altar (; ). The allusion seems to be to the murder of Zechariah, the son of Jehoiada ( ff). In this case “Barachiah†would seem to be a gloss which has crept into the text through confusion with the name of the father of the prophet Zechariah, BERECHIAH (which see).
