hedge = a wall built of loose stones without mortar. Hebrew. gader, used especially of sheep-folds (Num_32:16, Num_32:24, Num_32:36; 1Sa_24:3). Zep_2:6); also for fencing pathways between the vineyards (Num_22:24. Psa_62:3; Psa_80:12). The crevices between the loose stones form hiding-places for lizards and other creeping things.
