living dog. Regarded by the Jews as the most unclean and despicable creature (1Sa_17:43; 1Sa_24:14. 2Sa_9:8; 2Sa_16:9. 2Ki_8:13. Mat_7:6; Mat_15:26. Rev_22:15). Hence Gentiles so called.

is = he [is]: i.e. even he.
