The stone: i.e. the Messiah. See Gen_49:24. A stone of stumbling, Isa_8:14 (compare Rom_9:33. 1Pe_2:8); a "tried stone", "precious", "sure", Isa_28:16; the rejected stone (compare Mat_21:42. Mar_12:10, Mar_12:11. Luk_20:17. Act_4:11. 1Pe_2:4). The true foundation, Isa_28:16 (compare Mat_16:18. 1Co_3:11. Eph_2:20).
